Today marks the inaugural Global Holistic Wealth Day, which will be celebrated on April 9th each year. I created Global Holistic Wealth Day to remind us all that we need to take time to reflect on what it means to be truly ‘wealthy’ and how we can embody the transformational power of living with purpose, collecting experiences, engaging in meaningful work, cultivating health and well-being, and creating emotional and spiritual connections with others, all while continuously working to build financial stability.
I chose April 9th because it’s the anniversary of the death of our beloved husband, friend and father, Garfield R. Mullings, Msc., CGA, CPA, who died suddenly and unexpectedly from a very rare medical condition. As I mourned Garfield and worked through the grief of losing him, I reflected on the impact that his life had on our family, our community and the greater world around us. It helped me to rediscover my higher purpose in life, start my personal revolution and create the Holistic Wealth movement, which has culminated in the Holistic Wealth series of books including the NEW Holistic Wealth Expanded and Updated book just released on March 22nd, with forward by Actress Kelly Rutherford. It is also inspired me to pioneer an entire field of holistic wealth coaching with the Institute on Holistic Wealth and the Holistic Wealth podcast with Keisha Blair.
On Global Holistic Wealth Day, my hope is that we will take stock of the wealth that surrounds us, celebrate those who have lifted themselves up from life’s trials and tribulations and support those who are currently experiencing disruption. With global disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic, a catastrophic war in Ukraine, and a global economic crisis, my hope is that we will continue this journey of lifting each other up and playing our part in moving humanity forward.
There are many ways to celebrate Global Holistic Wealth day by engaging in activities that add to your mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and financial health such as taking a nature walk, exercising gratitude, engaging in yoga or mindfulness activities, journaling or updating your personal budget to enhance your financial wellness.
